i play rock band 1 / 2 - Guitar Hero took a huge dive into the ground once Activision took over (GH3 and on) - The amount of DLC for RB is just too amazing to even consider putting up with the terribly overcharted (mostly covers) songs and the HUGE timing window in gh3+...

I decied to get World Tour personally just because i like the CD songs way better and i dont plan to DLC, its too costful for how much time im going to use those songs. So GHWT ends up being a better choice, plus i just like the interface of GH over RB as well as the guitar. I understand what your saying though, Gh3 was terrible, but WT made a huge stride. Aerosmith was bad as well. Cool thing is, i can play both rock band 1 songs and rock band 2 with all my GH instruments so its fine.
